Noodles Every Day — Noodle dishes are a beloved staple throughout Asia and are eaten at all hours of the day and night. Asian cuisine expert Corinne Trang presents more than 70 recipes that make it easy to discover such simple pleasures as the Vietnamese rice noodle soup known as Pho, mee krob (a sweet and crispy fried rice vermicelli) from Thailand, and Japanese Soba. Chapters are organized by type of noodle—Wheat, Egg, Buckwheat, Rice, and Cellophane and then Buns, Dumplings, and Spring Rolls, so it’s easy to find just the right treat for the occasion. With a section on basic Asian ingredients plus information on simple equipment and easy techniques to master, this great guide ensures that each dish comes out perfect every time. |
The Asian Grill |

![]() |
Corinne Trang, the “Julia Child of Asian Cuisine,” guides you through the foundations of classic Asian dishes using the authentic herbs and spices from China, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, and India. With just a little understanding of the basics of grilling—a bit of marinade, a favorite ingredient, and a heat source—you’ll discover great new flavor combinations that you’ll want to cook again and again. The author demystifies the secrets of the five flavor notes—sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and spicy—and with techniques as familiar as combining honey with hot sauce, your repertoire of irresistible recipes will expand to include easy-to-prepare sauces and marinades redolent of lemongrass, galangal, Thai basil, coriander, and ginger. You’ll love the Spiced Yogurt-Marinated Chicken, reminiscent of Indian Tandoori, which has a colorful yellow hue that pairs nicely with Fresh Tomato Chutney and Parathas (a deliciously flaky flatbread, also from India). Give grilled salmon a Japanese treatment by wrapping it into rolls with rice and a touch of wasabi. For an impressive dish for company, grill marinated and skewered filet mignon cubes and serve with dishes of sweet-sour lime dipping sauce and some Asian Coleslaw on the side. With Simple to follow, step-by-step instructions, helpful prepping and grilling tips, ingredient sources and suggestions for substitutions, plus terrific advice on stocking an Asian pantry, anyone with a taste for an open fire will revel in the yin-yang balance of texture, flavor, and color in The Asian Grill. |
